Puerto Maldonado & Near-City Jungle

Puerto Maldonado is the main gateway to the Madre de Dios Amazon and the easiest base for exploring the region. Alongside hotels in and around the city, you’ll find attractive riverside and jungle properties just a short distance away, offering a taste of the rainforest without the longer journey to a remote lodge.

Staying here works particularly well for shorter visits, late arrivals or early departures, and travellers who want easy access to restaurants, transport and local services. Choose carefully and you can still enjoy tropical gardens, river views and a distinctly Amazonian setting while remaining conveniently close to the city.
