Ica Region
Ica is one of Peru’s most varied regions, where Pacific coastline, sweeping desert, fertile vineyards and some of the country’s most mysterious archaeological sites come together within a remarkably compact area. In this sun-kissed region, the dunes of Huacachina stand as a natural oasis, offering a picturesque haven amidst the desert. This small village, encircled by towering sand dunes and centered around a tranquil lagoon, is a haven for adventure seekers, with activities like sandboarding and dune buggy rides.

On the coast, Paracas brings an entirely different character to the region. The Paracas National Reserve protects a dramatic meeting of desert and ocean, with sweeping cliffs, beaches and rich marine ecosystems, while boat trips to the Ballestas Islands offer some of Peru’s best opportunities to see sea lions and large colonies of seabirds. The small resort town of Paracas also makes an appealing place to slow down for a few days beside the bay.
The Ica region is also the heart of Peru's pisco production. The vineyards here, some of the oldest in South America, produce the grapes used in the creation of pisco, Peru's national spirit. Visitors can explore the vineyards, learn about the traditional methods of pisco production, and, of course, taste the various exquisite blends.
